Chili Cook-Off Promises a Spicy, Fun Time

Jan 26, 2016 09:25PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
The spice is right! On Saturday, come on down to sample some of the finest and most inventive chili dishes in the South Bay as top local chefs compete for bragging rights at the annual South Bay Chili Cook Off fundraiser.

The event, to be held at the Manhattan Beach Fire Department, will take place on January 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. It is presented by the Neptunian Woman's Club and local sponsors, with all proceeds benefiting the Manhattan Beach Firefighters' Burn Foundation.

Attendees and firemen will sample chili and vote for the top three in three categories. Awards will be given for Crowd Favorite, Firemans' Favorite, and Special Honorable Mention (chosen by the Neptunians).

Aside from chili tastings, there will be beverages, desserts, a DJ, and interactions with local firefighters.

General admission tickets are available for $25 (children under 8 are free). Hot dogs will be available at the event for children eight years and younger.

New this year is the 21+ VIP Party, presented by Plaza Bank and Zinc restaurant at Shade Hotel. Tickets are $75 and include general admission, plus an after-party until 7:00 p.m. on the roof top of Plaza Bank's downtown Manhattan Beach location.

Event organizers anticipate approximately 450 guests at this popular local event. All ticket sales are final, and the event will be held rain or shine.
