Manhattan Beach is rich with public art, and this week, residents will have a chance to celebrate the city's latest installations. On January 7, the city will host a tour of the 2015/2016 Sculpture Garden, followed by a reception at the Manhattan Beach Art Center.

The tour begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Art Center with a view of Patricia Vader’s Jumping the Waves and Jimmy Descant’s Reverse Prometheus.

At 4:30 p.m., the city's Dial-A-Ride bus will take participants to Civic Plaza downtown to view the remainder of the Sculpture Garden with Margaret Lazzari and Lauren Evans’ Exuberant Birds, Arnold Martin’s Archimedes’ Goose, and Rick and Jaydon Sterling’s Dragon Tale.

At 5:00 p.m., the group will return to the Art Center, where light refreshments will be served and visitors can have a last chance view of the current exhibition, Sledgehammer. Bullet. Bomb.

This event is free of cost and open to the public. For more information, please contact Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation at (310) 802-5448 or by email.

The Sculpture Garden program, now in its fifth year, brings art to downtown and public areas. The city's vision for the Sculpture Garden is to enhance the community setting by displaying a variety of inspiring artworks. The program is supported by the city’s Public Art Trust Fund, which is funded by a 1% development fee and does not impact the general fund.
