During lunch, dinner, or take-out on that day, Old Venice will donate 20% of the day's revenue to The Fly Buddha Foundation, which provides financial assistance and community resources to assist women with gynecological cancers in preserving their fertility.
The Fly Buddha is an inspirational lifestyle brand founded by Sara Krish. While fighting cervical cancer in 2012, Krish connected with the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach. Their wide range of free resources, including individual counseling sessions, focused support groups and yoga classes, helped her discover the “Warrior” within that she says she needed to stay strong and determined.
At the start of 2015, Sara founded The Fly Buddha Foundation, a nonprofit that assists women with gynecological cancer in the preservation of their fertility. Through financial assistance and community resources, she hopes to create a possibility where one would otherwise not exist; the possibility for a woman to have her own biological child.
Sara is grateful that she was able to freeze her eggs prior to treatment through the process of IVF and feels strongly about giving this gift to as many women as possible.
Among other activities, The Fly Buddha puts on a free ($5 donation suggested) yoga event on the third Saturday of each month at the Redondo Beach Pier called "Get Lit with The Fly Buddha." Instructors from local studios lead a 60 minute all level yoga class while a DJ spins music for the crowd.
Old Venice is a popular downtown Manhattan Beach restaurant, family owned and operated since 1984. At Old Venice, you will find a wide variety of Greek and Italian specialties. The full Old Venice menu is available online here.
