Lido di Manhattan Offers Wine @ 5

Oct 11, 2015 12:33PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Could drinking a glass of wine with friends be a key to better health? Come and find out on Tuesday night!

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, Manhattan Beach's Lido di Manhattan Restaurant will host the popular Wine @ 5 event, offering a glass of wine and an opportunity to chat with friends. The event, held  in partnership with the Beach Cities Health District, will offer $5 glasses of wine and appetizers priced at $5 and under. It will run from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Wine @ 5 program is a series of events meant to align with the Blue Zone Project's findings on healthy living and longevity. According to the Blue Zones Project, studies show that for people who have a healthy relationship with alcohol, enjoying a glass of wine rich in artery-scrubbing flavonoids can benefit the health of the mind and body.

The Blue Zones Project is a community-wide approach to creating healthier and more productive citizens. It uses permanent, evidence-based environmental and policy changes to motivate residents to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles. It encourages people to move more, eat healthier foods that are primarily plant-based, and to reconnect with neighbors and families.

The Beach Cities (Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach) are one of nine regions in the country that have adopted the Blue Zones Project's philosophies. Residents are encouraged to take the pledge, join walking groups, participate in local potlucks, and volunteer in the community.

Another Wine @ 5 event will take place at Four Daughters Kitchen on Tuesday, November 10.
