MB10K Runners Finish Strong

Runners at the 38th Annual Manhattan Beach 10K got off to a great start this morning, with clear and mild weather, and streets crowded with well-wishers.

The male and female winners were Teddy Kassa, 21, of Torrance, with a time of 31:41; and Christine Bolf, 31, of Manhattan Beach with a time of 37:23.

Rounding out the top five men were Cheyne Inman of Manhattan Beach, Reo Miranda-Lavertu of Rolling Hills Estates, David Cardona of Torrance, and Rick Esponda of Lomita.

The top 5 women also included Alison Kielty of Torrance, Nathalie Higley of Redondo Beach, Kate Myers of Manhattan Beach, and Karen Edmonston of Redondo Beach.

The more than 2700 finishers included two six-year-olds, William Webber and Jude Wallis, both of Hermosa Beach; and 88-year-old Herbert Harger.

The Mira Costa High School boys' cross country team, currently ranked second in the state, was a recognizable sight on the course, decked out in bright pink shorts in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
