Kids Extreme Race in Manhattan Beach Sunday

Kids play on the Extreme race course long after the 2014 event was over.



Swimming, running, and a fun muddy obstacle course are in store for participants in the 7th Annual Kids Extreme, offered by the Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department.

This year's event takes place Sunday, August 16 beginning at 9 a.m. at Begg Pool. On-site registration will be available from 7 to 8:30 a.m. for $60. 

Racers are grouped by age divisions, and swim, run, go over, under, through and between a variety of obstacles such as mud, tires, hay, water, and walls. 

Every athlete will receive a participant medal, and trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners per age group for boys and girls.

The course is a
  • 100-yard swim (participants ages 5 to 8 and those in the Family Division will swim 25 yards; participants ages 9 to 10 will swim 50 yards)
  • 1K run
  • 200-yard obstacle course
Age divisions are
  • 5 to 6
  • 7 to 8
  • 9 to 10
  • 11 to 12
  • 13 to 15
  • Family Division (1 child and 1 parent)
