Ever wondered what whales and dolphins play in Santa Monica Bay? Then you'll want to attaned a free public lecture on "The Wonderful World of Whales! Whales and Dolphins of the Santa Monica Bay" Wednesday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Public Library.

Sponsored by the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium, the talk features presenter Diane Alps, programs coordinator at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and president of the American Cetacean Society. Alps will present information on the many species of whales and dolphins that can be seen in Southern California.

Notably, in the last decade, the waters off Southern California have shifted from watching gray whales migrate during the winter and early spring to a year-round mecca for all things whale, according to Alps.

"Join us for this fun evening packed with photos, stories, and information about the wonderful world of whales," she said.

The talk will be held in the library's multi-purpose room at 1320 Highland Ave.
