Aug 02, 2015 05:50PM ● By Mb News Staff

In what was an excruciatingly tough loss, the Manhattan Beach Little League All-Stars lost 9-6 to Sweetwater Valley Saturday. The two teams face off tonight (Sunday, August 2) in a best of three series that determines which team advances to the West Region Tournament.

The game was tied at 3 going into the fourth inning, when Sweetwater Valley hit a two-run homer to take the lead, 5-3. Clear Water then added four runs in the 6th.

MBLL rallied in the botton of the sixth inning, scoring three runs before Sweetwater secured the third out to end the game.

Jonah Storey pitched five solid innings for MB, with Kyle Karros pitching the sixth inning.

"We faced a good pitcher who limited our production for five innings," said Coach Anthony Wall. "We were able to get to their reliever in the sixth for three runs but fell short.

"We were in this game until the final swing, with the tieing run at the plate. At this level, you need some luck on your side to push through; today we fell short."

Tonight's game is at 6 p.m. at Homer Briggs Field in Ontario.
