Manhattan Beach Little League All-Star Team First Ever to Advance to State Championships

Against a tough Sherman Oaks All-Star team, the Manhattan Beach Little League All-Stars blasted their way to an 11-9 victory, making them the first team in MBLL history to advance to the Southern California Championship Series for the age group 9-12 year olds. 

Manhattan Beach took an early lead with a home run by Jonah Storey in the first inning. However, Sherman Oaks jumped ahead with 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the first with Andrew Beserra on the mound.   

In the top of the second, Manhattan Beach responded with four runs, started by a solo home run from Dylan Knowles. After a few walks, Andrew Beserra doubled to bring in two runs and Jake Wall singled to bring in the final run of the inning.  

Sherman Oaks responded in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to bring the score 5-3 at the end of two innings. In the bottom of the third, Sherman Oaks tied the game 5-5 with a two-run home run.   

With the score tied at 5, both teams made pitching changes for the fourth inning. Kyle Karros took on the mound for Manhattan Beach.   

MB scored two runs on a two-run homer by Jonah Storey in the fourth, bringing in Kyle Karros who'd hit a single to open the inning.

Sherman Oaks then responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the score, 7-7.   

Kyle Karros then shut down Sherman Oaks for two scoreless innings to keep the score tied at 7, sending the game into extra innings.

Max Gordon broke the tie in the top of the seventh, smashing a solo home run. After a few walks, Kyle Karros came to the plate with two runners on base and two outs. On a 2-2 pitch, he hit a 3-run home run.   

The score was 11-7 going into the bottom of the seventh but Sherman Oaks' bats cracked, sending two balls out of the park for two solo home runs, making the score 11-9.

Kyle Karros then shut down Sherman Oaks for good, striking out all three batters to end the game.
