"It's been amazing," said owner Angie Corrente of Doma Kitchen's transition to the new space in the Manhattan Village Mall complex. "It's so humbling when we have people come back and say, 'We missed you!'"
Doma Kitchen closed its Redondo Beach location last fall, and as the team prepared for a move to new digs in Manhattan Beach, it stayed on local foodies' radar with events like Pop-Up Dinners at Two Guns Espresso.
The restaurant's new location across from Macy's represents a complete re-do of the former Baja Fresh space. The redesign preserves the quirky and homey feel of the original restaurant with reclaimed wood tables, fabrics in a vintage batik print, antique home and garden tools, and modern art.
On the menu, Chef Kristina Miksyte brings fresh and local twists to Eastern European classics, like the popular plov, an Uzbek simmered rice dish with veggies and herbs.
Tuesday's special menu also featured a crunchy Bavarian garlic bread, cheeses, fruits, salmon puffs, kale salad, Hungarian sausages, and Lithuanian "crispies"- a tower of crispy crepes drizzled with honey, powdered sugar, raisins, and poppy seeds. (Miksyte noted that the crispy treat is often referred to in Lithuania as "ants on a hill.")
The restaurant is now open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, and for brunch on Sundays. Corrente added that the restaurant had recently curated a wine list of Eastern and Northern European wines that it would be featuring soon.
Doma Kitchen is located at 3562 N Sepulveda Blvd Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Phone: (310) 647-3157.
