Doma Kitchen to Officially Open July 3rd in Manhattan Beach

Jun 30, 2015 08:32AM ● By Mb News Staff

Doma Kitchen is now open in Manhattan Beach.

The dream to open in a larger space comes true Friday, July 3 when Doma Kitchen "soft" opens its doors in Manhattan Beach. The restaurant is presently open before Friday for walk-in diners.

Previously located in Redondo Beach, Owners Angie Corrente and Stan Mayzalis and Chef Kristina Miksyte are excited to bring their traditional cuisine and new dishes to a brand new space and neighborhood.

Chef Kristina is known for creating Eastern European-inspired dishes, including homemade Borscht, Lagman and Lamb Plov, and will continue that tradition at the MB Doma Kitchen. Grilled shashlik, a form of Shish kebab popular in Eastern and Central Europe using a variety of meats including lamb and chicken, has been added to the menu, and other dishes will be in the coming weeks.

During the first week of their soft opening, Doma Kitchen is donating a portion of their sales to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation. Doma Kitchen was one of the many fashionable, community-conscious restaurants that participated in the MBEF Wine Auction earlier this month.

With savvy diners first discovering Doma Kitchen during its time in on Pacific Coast Highway in RB (the restaurant closed that location in October after opening in 2013), Doma became a "go to" spot for diners who enjoy Slavic influences.

Chef Kristina, who uses Eastern European and Central Asian techniques, creates flavorful, including dishes such as Pelmeni Chicken Dumplings, Vareniki Potato Dumplings with Lamb, Beef Stew, Scottish Salmon, fresh homemade crepes, Porchetta Scramble, Grilled Veggie Sandwich on German Multi-Grain bread, Nicoise Salad, and Chili Lime Salad with Lamb. The restaurant also offers salads with kale and quinoa, and uses locally-sourced, natural meats.

All dishes are prepared from scratch, seasoned with housemaid spices, and place emphasis on using farmer market fresh, seasonal, and quality ingredients.

Diners will also have the opportunity to discover Red Bay Coffee, a quality-focused roaster of fine coffee based in Oakland that was founded in 2014 by Keba Konte, a successful food entrepreneur with 10 years experience in the specialty coffee and hospitality industry. Doma is the first place in Los Angeles that will feature Red Bay Coffee.

Doma will also serve traditional Turkish coffee using a sand method technique in which a hot bed of sand is used to heat the coffee. The method calls for pots filled with water and coffee grounds to be nestled a couple of inches into the hot sand.

Dessert will feature Zeppoles, Italian fritters with ricotta cheese, and will be served with housemade chocolate sauce. The Cake in a Jar (chocolate cake, seasonal berries, and housemade real whipped cream) is also popular.

Doma Kitchen, 3562 North Sepulveda Blvd. (where Baja Fresh used to be), is open daily (call for hours); (310) 647-3157.
