Play Beach Volleyball With Dad on Father's Day

Jun 19, 2015 04:23PM ● By Mb News Staff
If you're still looking for some Father's Day fun, join the Father's Day Beach Volleyball Tournament taking place on the sand south of the Manhattan Beach Pier Sunday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Put on by the City of Manhattan Parks & Recreation Department, the recreational, pool-play tournament gives dads and their kids a chance to play beach volleyball together in four-person teams on a long court. Play is also available on short courts for kids grouped by age: 10 and under, 11-14, and 15-18.

The tournament, which began in 2008, is designed to "provide a fun-filled gathering place and recreation experience for fathers and daughters or fathers and sons while promoting healthy lifestyles," said Jessica Vincent, MB Parks and Rec recreation services manager. She says the tournament is "laid back and fun" and "all about family. " Many dads and their kids return year after year to play in the tournament.

A $100 registration fee includes a T-shirt and goodie bag. Registration is being accepted online and will be accepted at the event. All proceeds benefit Project Fatherhood.
