Ready, set, go! Kids line up at the starting line with help from family and friends during a Manhattan Beach Chevron Grand Prix Race.
Races begin at 3:30 p.m. All riders must wear a helmet with a securely fastened chin strap, and each rider's entry/release form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Kids bike races will be organized by age, and may be combined depending on the number of participants and types of bicycles in each group. The youngest riders in each group should be moved to the front closest to the starting line. Adults are asked to help keep the finish line area clear by moving youngsters to the side of the course after they complete the race.
Two-wheel bicycle races for youngsters aged 6 to 13 will begin at approximately 3:35 p.m. The race course is 250 yards. Riders should assemble in the parking lot by the post office and Joslyn Community Center, close to 15th Street, 30 minutes prior to their start time.
Tricycles and small bike races will begin around 4 p.m. for ages 2 to 6. Their races are approximately 50 yards. Small bikes, sized 12”/16” wheels, and with or without training wheels are welcome. Racers should assemble at the north end of the baseball field, near the crosswalk closest to the finish line, 30 minutes prior to their start time.
Kids race details and an entry/release form can be found online here. Forms will also be available at the race.
