Iola Seligson

Iola Seligson, a local South Bay artist, will be showing her abstract paintings for the first time in Manhattan Beach at The Belamar Hotel during "A Decadent Illusion," a Twisted Fist Gallery art show. Set for Wednesday, June 3 from 5 to 9 p.m, the show features the work of several artists.

Iola, who was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated to the United States in 2002, paints abstracts with a vivid imagination that conjures up the likes of Picasso and Basquiat.

“I’m really excited about the event," she told DigMB. "I have done art shows in Venice, Laguna Beach, Cape Town and many other places, but never where I live. Beau Robinson has done a marvelous job planning a great evening showcasing local artists and musicians. The South Bay needs more events like this. It’s a really nice evening with great local artists and I am honored to be a part of it.”

When asked what she likes most about showing her art, Iola says, “In many ways I am like the art show attendee. I enjoy getting there early, setting up the easels and seeing how the paintings look in the room. I truly enjoy interacting with the people, especially new artists and new art buyers. I love seeing people experience art in a way they may not have before.”

Iola's art can be viewed online here.

The event includes complimentary valet parking, complimentary wine and beer from 5 to 6 p.m. and happy hour beverages and bites from 4 to 7 p.m. Second Story restaurant at The Belamar Hotel will serve the bites and beverages.
