Manhattan Beach Little League/Girls Softball Week in Review: Pitchers and Hitters Duel It Out in Coast Division

Here's DigMB.com's third weekly recap of highlights from the Manhattan Beach Little League and Manhattan Beach Girls Softball. 

Current standings (as of press time) in the competitive divisions of both leagues are found below the article. 

This week we have the first report on Coast Division play in Little League.

COAST DIVISION 

The Coast Division of the Manhattan Beach Little League is for boys and girls 8-10 years old by April 30 who are transitioning from coach-pitched play to batting against opposing youth pitchers. 

Gamecocks vs. Jayhawks

The Gamecocks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against the Jayhawks in the top of the first inning. A single by Jude Harris scored Taylor Bennett, who started the inning off with a walk.
The Jayhawks answered with five runs of their own in the first, scoring on an RBI single by Aaron Henschel, a walk by Henry McCoy, a walk by Christian Taylor, and a groundout by Isaiah Hill.

The Gamecocks took the lead back in the fourth inning and held on for the victory, gaining the lead on an RBI single by Arlo Brill. The Gamecocks then went on to score five runs in the fifth withan RBI triple by Jude Harris, an RBI single by Marco Magnotta, an RBI single by Carter Daley (in photo above), and a two-run single by Dylan Landes. 

Taylor Bennett went two innings as Gamecocks' pitcher, earning praise from her coach.
The game was highlighted with great pitching performances by Aaron Henschel for the Jayhawks and Taylor Bennett (far right) for the Gamecocks. Both pitchers completed 2 innings of work, and each struck out 5 batters.

Offensively, Jude Harris (in photo below) racked up five RBIs on four hits (4 for 4) and Dylan Landes went 3 for 3 for the Gamecocks.
