Mar 25, 2015 10:01PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
The Manhattan Beach Pier will go dark on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in honor of Earth Hour, an annual global climate awareness event. Although there will not be an official city-sponsored event at the pier, residents are encouraged to join in the event by turning off non-essential lights at the designated hour.

Additionally, several local businesses are participating in the event, and some are offering special deals. Those businesses include:

Always Best Care Senior Services

Bacchus - Wine Made Simple

D’Boutique

Trilogy Spa

Children's Orchard Manhattan Beach: Mention Earth Hour and receive 20% off resale clothing on 3/26

Manhattan Denim: 10% off all day for customers who mention Earth Hour

The Ripe Choice: Mention Earth Hour thru April to receive 10% off “Grab and Go” orders

More than 162 countries and territories worldwide take part in this event. This year marks the seventh year that the city has participated.  For information about Earth Hour, visit www.earthhour.org.
