Chalk Preschool Accepting Applications for September

Chalk Preschool, Manhattan Beach's newest offering for the pre-kindergarten set, is slated to open in Fall 2015 and is now accepting applications for September.
The preschool, located at 1114 22nd Street, will offer 2-, 3-, or 5-day full or half-day programs. The more than 15,000 square-foot campus will have two separate buildings (one with five classrooms, and one with a My Gym classroom and a Mommy and Me classroom), connected by a large outdoor playground. Noted local architect Patrick Killen has been working on the project.
What sets the Chalk experience apart, according to Angela Johnson, executive director of Chalk Preschools, is that everyone on the teaching staff has an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood or a related field. "We get the children kindergarten-ready," added Johnson.
Another key element of Chalk Preschool is its integration of the My Gym "Healthy Lifestyle Preschool Curriculum" into its classrooms to help youngsters develop healthful lifestyle habits. Students will also have the opportunity to experience My Gym-style classes in a dedicated space on campus.
"It's nice for parents, especially if they are both working and don't have time to do the My Gym experience, their kids can do it for free here," said Johnson.
The school will hold an information session for families on April 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the Manhattan Beach My Gym location.
Manhattan Beach is the seventh location of the Chalk Preschool system. In the L.A. area there are locations in Westwood and Venice. Additionally, Chalk offers an online preschool.
