Beaches in the running went as far south as Coronado and as far north as Ocean Beach in San Francisco. The competition included beaches in San Diego, La Jolla, Encinitas, San Onofre, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Venice, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Cambria, Big Sur and Santa Cruz.
The California coast spans 1,264 miles, according to the online post, and is home to more than 100 seaside towns, plenty of evidence as to why our state is a travel destination year after year, season after season.
