Fire Department Offers Free Smoke Detector Battery Change Service for Residents

Chances are you set your clock back an hour Sunday for the beginning of Daylight Savings Time but did you also change the batteries in your home's smoke detectors?

Residents who need help changing their smoke detector batteries can contact the Manhattan Beach Fire Department which is offering a free battery-changing service now through Sunday, November 9 as part of the department's participation in the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ “Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery” campaign.

The service is for residents who cannot reach or who have difficulty changing their smoke detector batteries. Firefighters and fir department personnel are offering the service between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

To make an appointment, call (310) 802-5248, and leave your name, address, call back number, and a two-hour block of time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when an adult will be available to let fire department staff into the home.
