Jul 02, 2014 02:30PM ● By Mb News Staff

Ready, set, go! Kids line up at the starting line with help from family and friends during a Manhattan Beach Chevron Grand Prix Race.

As cyclists converge on seaside Manhattan Beach and Live Oak Park for the 53rd Annual Manhattan Beach Grand Prix Bike Race Sunday, it's the little cyclists who are sure to have the most fun!

Indeed, burgeoning bikers on bicycles, tricycles, and bikes with training wheels will have the chance to go the distance and be in a winner in categories designed for riders ages 2 to 14 years, according to event literature.

Participants can be signed up beginning at 12 noon on race day (Sunday, July 6) and before the end of the Pro Race on the ball field north of Joslyn Community Center in the Community Race Booth. Race times are 2:45 and 3:15 p.m.

The entry fee per kid racer is $5, and each rider will receive a T-shirt and medal. All riders must wear a legal helmet, and the training wheels and tricycles can be used by children ages 2-6. Parents can help racers line up, youngest first, when their race is called.

Children 6 and under will have a 50-yard course; older kids will ride 300 yards. Complete details are here.
